About This Spot

Stepping into Yemeni Restaurant on Broad River Road feels like discovering a quietly cherished corner of Columbia where heritage and warmth naturally blend. Nestled alongside a humble halal market, this intimate spot hums with a gentle, unhurried rhythm, inviting guests to settle in and share a meal that resonates with tradition and care. It isn’t a flashy destination, but rather a sincere, comforting place where the focus rests on simple hospitality and honest flavors.

The atmosphere here is relaxed and unassuming, with seating that encourages lingering over conversations and the kind of food that often carries stories from distant kitchens and family tables. The service adds to this welcoming feeling—patient, kind, and quietly attentive—creating a sense of connection even for those new to Yemeni and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Food here is an invitation to explore tastes shaped by time-honored recipes and skillful spice blending. From tender, slow-cooked lamb dishes to richly seasoned chicken offerings, each plate arrives with a sense of authenticity that speaks to careful preparation rather than flash. Complementary sides like smooth, vibrant hummus and creamy baba ganoush add layers of comfort that enhance every bite. Even the more casual wraps and sandwiches hold the same thoughtful balance of flavors, making them fulfilling without pretense.

For those with curiosity toward the broader Middle Eastern experience, this is a spot to savor nuances and textures that rarely find their way into city center eateries. The pace invites you to slow down, appreciate the subtle warmth of the surroundings, and listen for the human moments that make dining memorable. Yemeni Restaurant is not just about filling a plate, but about sharing a space where food, culture, and kindness meet quietly yet meaningfully.

My wife and I love trying a variety of ethnic food around town. I can tell you that this place is one of the best in Columbia as far as authentic and good. It is a true hole in the wall type of place, but it is clean and has good service. The hummus is some of the best I have ever had, as well as the baba ganoush. Their traditional Afghan rice dish was amazing as well. If you are looking for something new to try this is the place for you. This is my first time trying food from this part of the world and I am glad I took a chance on it. This restaurant is located at the back of a grocery store, but don't let that fool you. The food is awesome.

The haneeth lamb was decent but the lamb was overcooked in some spots. The soup was okay, but the house salad was nothing special. Beware that going when they first "open" at 10am is still closed since staff had told me that they don't actually open until around noon.

Small spot that shares space with a halal market. The food was absolutely delicious--tender meat with well-balanced spices. I plan to stop by whenever I'm in Columbia.

I highly recommend this restaurant if your looking for an authentic Yemeni food experience. The seating is very comfortable and traditional and the food is very delicious. Not to mention the amazing service and kindness of the staff.

went about an hour before writing this, i'm eating the chicken shawarma, grape leaves, and the lamb soup they have and it is all incredible. i can't believe this type of food is hidden in a grocery store of all places. lil bit of difficulty speaking with staff due to me only knowing english, but they were extremely kind and cool and we ended up understanding each other. definitely coming back again.

I wanted to give 5 stars to this place because they have 5 star food, and the host was nice and kind too, but the area needs some cleaning. We were traveling and needed to use the restroom, too, which needed some cleanup as well. Also, I have asked if there is any sauce I can get for which the host was a bit annoyed and said it would ruin the food taste. Everyone likes the food their way, and sauce, like garlic mayo or tomato sauce, does taste good with rice and BBQ. The kabuli pulao is a must try, and lamb shank was very soft and nice.

The lamb is wonderful and the rice is flavorful. Chicken shawarma is okay, a bit soggy and could use more flavor in it but still good. I love having the restaurant here so you can order food and is ready by the time you finish grocery shopping.
